"Olive Iland Ugljan"

Ugljan - Die grüne Insel, oftmals auch als Garten von Zadar bezeichnet, liegt auf der anderen Seite des Kanals vor der Stadt, mit der sie durch eine Fährlinie verbunden ist. Schon seit der Römischen Epoche, dem Mittelalter und bis in die heutige Zeit hinein diente diese Insel als Urlaubsort für Adelige und Reiche (Califfi, De Ponte , Bartolazzi, Benja, .). Schon zu Zeiten der Römer und des römischen Veterans Galliano, der hier einen Besitz und in der Ortschaft Muline auch eine Ölmühle zur Verarbeitung des bekannten liburnischen Olivenöls hatte, wurden auf dieser Insel Oliven angebaut. Die Festung des hl. Michael (Sv. Mihovil) dominiert über der Insel und bietet einen unvergesslichen Ausblick auf den Archipel von Zadar. Zu den alten Fischerorten zählen Kukljica, Kali, Preko und Ugljan sowie Lukoran, Poljana und Sutomiscica, wobei Kali der am meisten durch die Fischerei geprägte Ort der ganzen Adria ist. Die heimischen Fischer arbeiteten auf Thunfischfängern auf der ganzen Welt. Heute leben all diese Orte größtenteils vom Tourismus. Vor der Insel liegen die beiden malerischen kleinen Inseln Osljak mit ihrem charakteristischen Fischerhafen und Galevac, auf der sich das Franziskanerkloster befindet. Diese sympathischen Inseln bieten sichere Häfen und Anlegeplätze für Segler. Ein guter Grund für einen Besuch der Insel Ugljan ist auch die Ruhe des Franziskerklosters, die antiken Ruinen, die Rad- oder Wanderwege auf den kilometerlangen Pfaden entlang der Trockenmauern, der unvergessliche Ausblick von der Festung des hl. Michael aus oder einfach die schönen Strände, an denen man wunderschön baden und sich erholen kann. Zur Gemeinde gehören auch die Inseln Rivanj und Sestrunj, deren Umsegelung einen besonderen Genuss darstellt, ebenso wie das Baden und Ausruhen in den wunderschönen Buchten der Insel.

Ugljan - The green island, often referred to as the garden of Zadar, lies on the other side of the canal in front of the city, to which it is connected by a ferry line. The old fishing villages include Kukljica, Kali, Preko and Ugljan, as well as Lukoran, Poljana and Sutomiscica, with Kali being the most heavily fishery town in the whole Adriatic. The local fishermen worked on tuna boats all over the world. Today, all these places live mostly from tourism. In front of the island lie the two picturesque little islands of Osljak with their characteristic fishing port and Galevac, where the Franciscan monastery is located. These friendly islands offer safe harbors and moorings for sailors. A good reason to visit the island of Ugljan is the tranquility of the Franciscan monastery, the ancient ruins, the bike or hiking trails along the miles of paths along the dry stone walls, the unforgettable view from the fortress of St. Michael or just the beautiful beaches, where you can swim and relax.

The municipality also includes the islands of Rivanj and Sestrunj, whose sailing is a special treat, as well as swimming and resting in the beautiful bays of the island.
